More experimental guitars from Hitomi. Franck Lafay and JL Prades are a French duo of manipulators whose capacities find a perfect focus in Ephemere. Fluorescent images and electric mayhem are juxtaposed in a strange nightmarish ambiances, everything revolving around real and sampled/delayed guitar notes and noises. Just when a catastrophe is lurking near, here come the reiteration of a sweet phrase, or an obliquely warm arpeggio, to create the illusion that daily life will leave you alone, letting you sleep while fulfilling the most unpronounceable desires. It doesn’t last for long: bizarre ghosts and evil creatures disguised under the appearance of multicolour flowers will entice the listeners in a spiral of desolation before they even realize what’s happening. When the music’s over, one still doesn’t know if all the above was true, or just a fantasy.
